PUTNAM FOUNDATION SCORES AGAIN WITH SEATTLE SCORE

For the Third year in a row the Peter M. Putnam Foundation is proud to call the Seattle SCORES Emerson Eagles their team! The Putnam Foundation will again financially support the soccer and poetry program. Chris Turnley, Executive Director said, “We are so proud of everything that the Eagles have accomplished. The Seattle SCORES prove after school programs change lives.”

The children of Emerson Elementary come from one of the poorest neighborhoods in Seattle.  Prior to joining Seattle SCORES virtually none of the students have the opportunity to play on an organized sports team. When asked about the partnership between Putnam and SCORES Pete Fewing, Executive Director of the Seattle Scores program said, “Thanks to Putnam’s support these kids have been given a tremendous opportunity – to build leadership skills, develop cooperative teamwork abilities, learn the meaning of commitment to teammates and experience the sheer joy of scoring a goal for their team.”  These skills are the reason that the Putnam Foundation chose to fund the SCORES program again.  The program has allowed over 32 children’s lives to be changed.  Fewing said, “The impact of the foundation’s support is clear by just taking a look at each child’s face as they sprint down the field.”
